KIROVSK DISTRICT, 20 June (BelTA) – It is important that people should have a piece of land outside cities, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said when talking with the participants of the commemorative event in the village of Borki, Kirovsk District on 20 June, BelTA has learned.

“The most important thing is that people do not abandon their land, live on it. The pandemic showed that those who have a house in the countryside had an opportunity to take their elderly family members out of Minsk, regional centers, and the elderly did not get sick,” the head of state said.

Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed that there are many vacant places in the villages, near them. The president said that appropriate instructions will be given to the the district executive committees to offer these plots to people.

The town of Kopys has already gained some experience in this. “We showed in the town of Kopys how to do it. We will designate vacant lands in the villages, break into plots of 10-15 ares, and put them on the internet. Whoever wants to can buy them on the cheap to build a house. By doing so we will save depressed farms and villages,” the Belarusian leader said.

“I want people, especially those who live in cities, to have a piece of land. This is your wealth," the president said.
