Belarusian president intends to visit Russia's Chechen Republic

MINSK, 14 December (BelTA) – I intend to visit Chechnya as early as possible, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said at the meeting with the Russian media on 14 December, BelTA has learned.

Alexander Lukashenko said that he was invited by the head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov and he plans to visit Chechnya, to see the city of Grozny the first chance he gets. The Belarusian president said that he enjoys good long-standing relations with the leader of the Chechen Republic and asked to send him good wishes. Ramzan Kadyrov was awarded the Order of Friendship, the highest state award in Belarus for foreign citizens.

The Belarusian head of state cited examples of Belarusians and Chechens supporting each other. He also promised that all agreements reached with the Chechen leader will be honored, even before the scheduled date.

“I will travel to Chechnya, and we will once again revisit our agreements and agree on the next steps. We cooperate in many areas from agribusiness to oil refining,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
