Belarus to raise retirement pensions soon

KIROVSK DISTRICT, 20 June (BelTA) – Retirement pensions will be raised in the near future, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said when talking with the participants of the commemorative event in the village of Borki, Kirovsk District on 20 June, BelTA has learned.

The head of state noted that people raised the issue of pensions during the signature collection campaign. “Pensions are not large. But what we have, we have. Yesterday I asked the government (the decree has not yet been issued). We had planned to raise pensions sometime in the fourth quarter. However, I asked to do it earlier. We do not have a lot of money. But we should help veterans, pensioners as much as possible. It is not a populist measure at a time of the election. I have never done it,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.

“Since veterans, pensioners bring up this issue asking to raise the pensions by at least 10-20 dollars, we need to do it now so that it gets easier for you,” the head of state added.
