Belarus president wants more active work from National Olympic Committee

MINSK, 15 April (BelTA) – The National Olympic Committee should step up efforts, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at the session of the Executive Committee of the National Olympic Committee (NOC) on 15 April, BelTA informs.

“Unfortunately, the NOC has lost momentum in recent time. Some time ago life was at full swing in this building, high-profile Olympic movement awareness events, meetings to discuss the support of junior and youth sport were held. But there are no such events now. There is a certain coolness in the relations between federations,” Aleksandr Lukashenko stressed.

In his words, the NOC plays a special role in the system of physical education and sport. One of its major priorities is the promotion of the Olympic movement in close interaction with government bodies and local authorities, coordination of work of various sports federations.

“It is important for the NOC to be the center of gravity for athletes and coaches, our renowned champions and the growing generation. This is their home too,” the Belarusian leader said.
