Belarus president wants autumn field work finished by 7 November

MINSK, 22 October (BelTA) – Belarusian farmers should finish autumn field work by 7 November. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko gave the relevant instructions during the government conference held on 22 October, BelTA learned from Deputy Prime Minister Mikhail Rusy.

During the government conference the head of state paid close attention to the state of affairs in agriculture. He heard out reports on autumn field work progress in individual areas and the country as a whole. Finishing autumn field work and starting preparations for the next year's sowing campaign were high on the agenda. “Beet root, corn for grain and corn for silage must be finished by 7 November,” Mikhail Rusy said.

It was noted during the government conference that the work stays on schedule as a whole and there is strong confidence the work will be finished on time. However, Alexander Lukashenko drew attention to the quality of the work, urged to prevent losses and gather in the harvest in good condition.

“Strict instructions were issued today to me, the minister, and every oblast governor,” said Mikhail Rusy.

Mikhail Rusy went on saying that vigorous preparations for the spring sowing campaign are in progress. Some 700,000ha of the land has been plowed, with another 750,000ha to be processed yet.
