Belarus president unhappy about roads in Baranovichi District

BARANOVICHI, 22 March (BelTA) – Roads inside the city of Baranovichi and the district should be set in order within two years. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko gave the instructions as he met with senior administration officials of the city of Baranovichi and Baranovichi District on 22 March, BelTA has learned.

The head of state remarked that local residents had been complaining about the roads. “Set the roads in order. Properly,” the president instructed those present.

Alexander Lukashenko remarked that as far as road construction is concerned, there is still a lot of careless attitudes, including the observance of construction standards. “People are right to complain. New roads last virtually no time at all. We are not talking only about people's mood. We are talking about their wellbeing. Nearly every one of them has a car. People invest a lot in cars and want to drive along proper roads,” the Belarusian leader pointed out.

“Belarusian road construction companies still say they spend their appropriated funds. Instead they should guarantee the roads, the buildings, and other things they build can last for a warranty period. If something happens, it has to be fixed at the road construction company's own expense. It is a problem everywhere. And I want roads in the city and outside it set in order within two years,” Alexander Lukashenko said.

He instructed the State Control Committee to make sure the instruction gets fulfilled.
