Belarus president makes new appointments in power-wielding agencies

MINSK, 11 December (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko appointed new heads of the Operational and Analytical Center and the Security Service of the Belarusian President. These personnel decisions were made at the meeting with high-ranking representatives of power-wielding bodies, BelTA informs.

Andrei Pavlyuchenko was appointed Head of the Operational and Analytical Center. Previously he worked as the head of the Security Service.

Dmitry Shakhrayev was appointed Head of the Security Service. Previously he worked as the deputy head of this organization.

At the beginning of the meeting Alexander Lukashenko said that during the session with the representatives of the IT sector which was held in the morning it was mentioned that the situation in the world is not calm, new challenges emerge. “There are hotbeds of tension. Therefore, external security is a crucial issue for us. But it is also important to focus on the internal security, stable development of our country, our society. Anti-corruption efforts play a big role in it,” the president remarked.

The Operational and Analytical Center and the Security Service of the Belarusian President together with other agencies are also involved in this work. “They are working hard. And we are by right proud of the achievements they make in the fight against corruption. It is also acknowledged on the international arena,” Alexander Lukashenko said. It is still needed to address a number of issues and step up efforts in this field, the president believes.

State Secretary of the Security Council Stanislav Zas said after the meeting that the main area of focus was the work of the Operational and Analytical Center and the Security Service. The meeting focused on the current state of affairs and issues addressed by these agencies. He also explained that Dmitry Shakhrayev had recently worked as the acting head of the Operational and Analytical Center. “Colonel Shakhrayev coped with the task to liven up the personnel, put everything in order, and improve the work of the center. He will occupy a new post following the decision of the head of state,” Stanislav Zas said.

He asked not to look for certain background in these personnel decisions. Both Andrei Pavlyuchenko and Dmitry Shakhrayev worked well on previous posts. But the president wants the Operational and Analytical Center and the Security Service to work together. As a result, the two heads will be well aware of the peculiarities of work of the agencies.

“The head of state made his decision depending on the professional qualities of the two people. This decision takes into account the professional qualities of the officers. Andrei Pavlyuchenko worked rather well as the acting head, given his potential as an operational worker, an analytical person, such a decision was made,” Stanislav Zas said.
