Belarus president makes new appointments in Internal Affairs Ministry

MINSK, 24 December (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made new appointments in the Internal Affairs Ministry on 24 December, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian leader.

The head of state approved the appointment of Major General of Police Nikolai Melchenko as official representative of the Internal Affairs Ministry in the embassy of Belarus in Ukraine with concurrent accreditation in Moldova. He previously worked as deputy internal affairs minister – head of public security police.

This appointment will allow using Nikolai Melchenko's potential in the best interests of Belarus at the government level. The official representative will ensure a proper level of bilateral cooperation in crime prevention, promote interaction with high-ranking law enforcement officials in the countries of stay.

Major General of Police Aleksandr Barsukov, who previously worked as deputy internal affairs minister, was appointed deputy internal affairs minister – head of public security police.

The appointment will allow using Aleksandr Barsukov's experience of work at different high-rankings posts of public security police. Previously he worked in such organizations as the Corrections Department of the Internal Affairs Ministry and the Minsk City Police Department.

Major General of Police Sergei Khomenko was appointed deputy internal affairs minister on an alternative basis. Previously he worked as head of the Security Services Department of the Internal Affairs Ministry.

Before that Sergei Khomenko served in the internal military forces, where he was promoted to first deputy commander of internal military forces of the Internal Affairs Ministry. Professionalism, impeccable discipline, strong will and business proficiency, rich and diverse experience of service and administrative work, personal authority of Sergei Khomenko will help improve personnel administration in the law enforcement system.
