Belarus president makes new appointments

MINSK, 12 September (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made new appointments on 12 September, BelTA has learned.

The head of state appointed:

Sergei Terentyev as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Arab Republic of Egypt with concurrent accreditation to the Republic of the Sudan and the Sultanate of Oman, Belarus' Permanent Representative to the League of Arab States;

Evgeny Vorobyov as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the State of Israel;

Nikolai Ovsyanko as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Ecuador with concurrent accreditation to the Republic of Colombia, the Republic of Nicaragua and the Republic of Panama;

Viktor Rybak as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Turkey with concurrent accreditation to the Republic of Iraq;

Vyacheslav Beskostyi as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the republic of Turkmenistan.

The president also approved the appointment of:

Anatoly Gaponik as chairman of the Buda-Koshelevo District Executive Committee;

Sergei Kosinsky as chairman of the Lelchitsy District Executive Committee;

Sergei Lozhechnik as chairman of the Lida District Executive Committee;

Aleksei Sadovsky as chairman of the Shchuchin District Executive Committee;

Andrei Zhailovich as chairman of the Soligorsk District Executive Committee;

Piotr Maksimchikov as director general of OAO Gomelglass;

Sergei Avakov as director general of OAO Planar.

The head of state said: “It is time for a new generation to arrive. We will retire one day. That day is not that far. People, who should preserve the country, should come. Ambassadors should be such people.”

Evgeny Vorobyov has been named Ambassador to Israel. Earlier, he was Head of the Europe Department at the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Aleksandr Lukashenko wondered about the state of affairs at the enterprises, the number of personnel they employ, and development prospects of the companies. In particular, the holding company Planar comprises five factories that employ over 1,000 people.
