Belarus president encourages people to change their lifestyles

GOMEL, 21 July (BelTA) – People should change their lifestyles. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the relevant statement as he met with Gomel Oblast's top officials and executives on 21 July, BelTA has learned.

Aleksandr Lukashenko said: “If you have an opportunity to preserve a countryside home with a land plot, do it. Get back to your roots! Walk barefoot even if you live on the ninth floor. Walk outside in the morning. Do you know when you walked barefoot on dewy grass last time? Half of you don't. But you need all of that. It is a medicine. Not the Japanese medication I've brought on board an aircraft. You should change your lifestyle. We shouldn't abandon land, abandon the countryside. Otherwise, we will perish and will be poor.”

Aleksandr Lukashenko noted that a number of people once again intend to go to seashores in southern countries although the pandemic is far from over. “We don't force anyone to stay. Go ahead. But you should know that once you come back, you will have to spend at least ten days in quarantine at your own expense. This is why I ask you to stay home this year. We have enough sanatoriums, we have good nature. Spend your vacations here,” the head of state noted. “The god has given us such wonderful weather. The air will be cool in a couple of days. It will be hot in five days after that, particularly in Gomel. So, you can take a dip in the Sozh River, you can visit Slavgorod, it is not far from here, go and see the Blue Wellspring. Walk about over there, think about good things.”

“I have my own wellspring – Trofimov's [in the area Aleksandr Lukashenko grew up near the agrotown of Alexandria]. I invite you to visit it. Bring the kids, take a dip. Small kids and adults have taken a dip over there and, thank god, nobody has fallen ill. You should take a dip, too. Walk about, run about, move about. Change your lifestyle,” the Belarusian leader added.
