MINSK, 19 April (BelTA) – There should not be any dividing lines in Belarus, especially in social economic and living conditions, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said in his State of the Nation Address on 19 April, BelTA has learned.
Aleksandr Lukashenko drew attention to the balanced development of territories. “Belarus is a compact country. And there should not be any dividing lines, especially in social, economic and living conditions,” the Belarusian leader said.
The majority of Belarusian people live in regions, over three fourths of people's petitions came from regions during the Big Conversation with the President. “These are the signals of your lack of attention, our lack of attention. We are monitoring every issue,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
According to the Belarusian leader, the task to reduce the gap in the quality of life was set many years ago. However, it is still necessary to do a lot in this regard. “The government should not stand aside from the problem, concerted efforts are needed. There are similar problems everywhere, therefore, I demand systematic work from the Council of Ministers. Do not repeat mistakes of the previous government. All of us need a reality check, we should be closer to people. If you do not know what to do, as I often say, go to people, they will tell you what to do and help you,” the head of state said.
Levels of regional policy have been determined in Belarus. These are the levels of the capital city, oblast capitals, districts, agrotowns and villages. There are strateies at every level. Separate programs should be developed for 11 big towns using the example of Orsha to ensure robust development. “The government, chairmen of oblast executive committees will have two years to implement these programs,” Aleksandr Lukashenko said. “First of all, there should be tangible results for our people.”
The president believes that targeted investments are needed in every region depending on their peculiarities if we want to enhance their economic potential. “Conditions for the development of enterprises of all sizes and all forms of ownership have been created. Local authorities should provide comprehensive assistance to investors in doing business. We have all tools for that. It is just needed to fulfill all norms at the local level,” he added.
Aleksandr Lukashenko also spoke about the development of infrastructure. “Comfortable living conditions are the foundation of social standards and the main criterion of successful regional projects. Corresponding construction and modernization programs should be developed there, if necessary,” the head of state said.More about President
