BARANOVICHI, 22 March (BelTA) – Price and salary issues should be taken under control, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said as he met with the authorities of the city of Baranovichi and Baranovichi District on 22 March, BelTA has learned.
The head of state noted that ahead of his trip to Brest Oblast he had instructed to conduct a poll which showed that people were mostly concerned about the growing prices.
“I pay particular attention to such matters. I have instructed the Belarus President Administration head to immediately take the price and salary issues under control,” the Belarusian leader said.
“Prices, jobs, salaries and pensions,” the president listed the issues that should be watched over.
The head of state added that not only it is always possible to pay a salary which would generally satisfy the worker, but sometimes it is not paid on time. As of 1 March, however, all salaries in Brest Oblast were paid on time.
Alexander Lukashenko emphasized that both salaries and pensions primary depend on the economic development and efficient operation of companies. There is a need for local initiative and effort.
The president also pledged help to those in a difficult situation. “If I see that you are in a complicated situation, we will, of course, help you. However, if there is a lack of discipline and order, if you do not work, then, please, do not count on the president's assistance,” the head of state warned.
Promising projects will be supported as well. “If you decide to launch a super production project which will pay back tomorrow, I am ready to support it. Make you proposals,” he said.
Speaking about the poll on economic and political topics conducted in the region ahead of the president's working trip, the head of state said that he had studied its results in detail. "The data is still confidential. I cannot say, however, that I am unhappy about it,” he said.
“I hear not only those 80% of the population of Brest Oblast and, in particular, of Baranavichi, who generally have a positive attitude towards the president. I also hear those 20% who have not yet decided on their attitude towards Lukashenko or who do not support the president. I do not share you. You are all my people,” stressed Alexander Lukashenko.
The president instructed to keep under control every raised issue. “All issues are similar to those voiced during the recent Big Conversation with the President. People address both me and the local authorities. I am happy in general to see how people assess the authorities here. This pertains not only to the president, but also to the entire vertical power. More than a half assesses the governor and the regional executive committee positively. This is good. You work closely with the people,” said the president.More about President
