Anatoly Markevich appointed Belarus' culture minister

MINSK, 19 November (BelTA) – Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko appointed Anatoly Markevich Culture Minister on 19 November, BelTA has learned.

Anatoly Markevich was born in 1971 in the village of Gromki, Shchuchin District, Grodno Oblast. Anatoly Markevich graduated from Pushkin Brest State Pedagogical Institute in 1994 and the Academy of Public Administration under the aegis of the President of the Republic of Belarus in 2006.

In 1993 Anatoly Markevich joined the country's education system as a teacher. In 1995 he became director of Prudyankaya basic school of Shchuchin District. In 1998-2002, he managed various schools in Grodno Oblast. In 2002, he was appointed Deputy Chairman of the Korelichi District Executive Committee. In 2010-2011, Anatoly Markevich headed the Korelichi Council of Deputies, worked as chairman of the Novogrudok District Executive Committee (2011-2019).

Before the appointment as Culture Minister Anatoly Markevich was Presidential Aide – Inspector for Brest Oblast.
