Aleksei Avramenko appointed Belarus' transport minister

MINSK, 15 January (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko has appointed Aleksei Avramenko Transport and Communications Minister, BelTA has learned.

The head of state emphasized the importance of the transport sector and added that there are issues in the industry that need to be addressed. “The ministry is large and diverse, responsible for all types of transport, from air to water transport. There are issues that need to be solved. I have already told the local authorities that the next two years will be challenging. As we are a transit country, a lot depends on you,” said Alexander Lukashenko.

The president also instructed to step up work in water transport and decide where Belarus needs such transport most. “We need to study all these issues the same way we did for the Energy Ministry. We need to take a look at the structure and personnel of the ministry, study all the issues,” said the head of state.

Aleksei Avramenko was born in Minsk on 11 May 1977.

Appointed deputy minister of transport and communications of Belarus. First deputy transport and communications minister of Belarus since 2016.
