Zimbabwe's honorary consulate opens in Minsk

MINSK, 17 January (BelTA) – Zimbabwe President Emmerson Mnangagwa took part in a solemn ceremony to open the office of Zimbabwe's Honorary Consulate in Minsk on 17 January, BelTA has learned.

Emmerson Mnangagwa and Belarus' Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Andrei Dapkiunas cut the red ribbon to inaugurate the Honorary Consulate of Zimbabwe in Belarus. “It is a great honor for me to take part in the ribbon-cutting ceremony that demonstrates that the cooperation between Zimbabwe and Belarus is gaining momentum,” Emmerson Mnangagwa said.

Zimbabwe's Honorary Consul in Belarus Alexander Zingman emphasized the importance of this event. He noted that Belarus is giving a warm welcome to the Zimbabwean delegation. He assured that the Honorary Consulate will do its best to promote Belarus-Zimbabwe relations.

The diplomatic relations between the Republic of Belarus and the Republic of Zimbabwe were established on 16 April 1992. Belarus' ambassador to the Republic of South Africa has had a concurrent accreditation to Zimbabwe since April 2018. The Zimbabwean ambassador to Russia got the concurrent accreditation to Belarus in June 2016.
