Working groups on Ukraine resume talks in Minsk

MINSK, 6 September (BelTA) - The working groups of the trilateral contact group promoting peace settlement in Ukraine have resumed talks in Minsk, BelTA learned from the Twitter account of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The talks of the working groups are closed to the press. It is expected that they will be followed by a meeting of the trilateral contact group in the OSCE-Ukraine-Russia format.

The previous talks on Ukraine were held in the Belarusian capital on 23 August. The contact group on Ukraine reached an agreement on “a school armistice” as from 25 August. The parties also continued discussing the separation of forces and assets in the area of conflict. The working group on humanitarian affairs continued intensive discussions about the POW exchange. The working group on political affairs exchanged opinions in light of the Normandy Four talks that were held on 22 August. In particular, they discussed matters concerning the Steinmeier formula and the law on the special status of several districts of Donetsk Oblast and Lugansk Oblast.
