MINSK, 2 September (BelTA) – The website of the United States embassy in Belarus is a propaganda leaflet directed against the current government. Belarusian Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei made the statement while talking to reporters on 2 September, BelTA has learned.
Vladimir Makei said: “We see how some officials of the U.S. embassy in Belarus behave. Look at the website. It is not the website of a diplomatic institution meant to analyze the situation in the country and bolster relations between states. That's what diplomacy is meant for. This website is some kind of a propaganda leaflet directed against the current government. How should we treat it? Those are absolutely hostile actions towards Belarus. It has nothing to do with the enhancement of sovereignty and independence that our American partners always try to tell us.”
BelTA reported earlier that Belarus had previously revoked its consent to the appointment of Julie Fisher as the USA ambassador to Minsk. The American side was also suggested it should reduce the staff of its embassy in Minsk to five people by 1 September.
