MINSK, 17 November (BelTA) - As of 9.00 the voter turnout in Belarus' parliamentary elections totaled 37.14%, Chairperson of the Central Election Commission (CEC) of Belarus Lidia Yermoshina told a briefing at the CEC info center on 17 November, BelTA has learned.
The voter turnout in Mogilev Oblast reached 41.36%, with Gomel, Vitebsk and Minsk Oblasts making it 40.83%, 38.63% and 39.6% respectively so far. A total of 37.43% of votes were cast in Grodno Oblast, with 35.14% of ballots cast in Brest Oblast. The turnout in Minsk reached 29.53%.
A total of 35.77% of voters cast their ballots early, the CEC head said. “This is an increase of 2%. It is a natural picture for a Sunday autumn day,” Lidia Yermoshina said.
Voting is underway from 8.00 till 20.00.A total of 513 candidates stand in the election race.
