Vietnam parliament speaker to visit Belarus in 2019

MINSK, 8 October (BelTA) – Chairperson of the National Assembly of Vietnam Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan is expected to visit Belarus by the end of 2019, BelTA learned from the press service of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus.

The parties are set to discuss interparliamentary activities, humanitarian, trade and economic cooperation. Belarus intends to focus on the progress in fulfilling all arrangements reached during the visit of Chairman of the Council of the Republic Mikhail Myasnikovich to Vietnam in September 2018.

Belarus is eager to scale up comprehensive cooperation with Vietnam and hopes that the upcoming visit of the Vietnam parliamentary speaker will help bolster bilateral ties and launch new projects.

In 2018, Belarus-Vietnam trade totaled $115.3 million. Belarus' export amounted to $61.6 million, import equaled $53.7 million. Belarus' trade surplus came at $7.9 million.
