USA's sanctions against Belarus' companies slammed as show of hypocrisy

MINSK, 27 March (BelTA) – The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has commented on the decision of the USA to impose sanctions against Belarusian enterprises, BelTA has learned.

“By and large, such a decision by the American authorities did not come as a surprise to Belarus. It is difficult to expect anything else from a country that by inertia keeps positioning itself as the master of the world's destinies, that continues to believe in its own exclusivity, infallibility and impunity,” the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.

“Another thing is indicative. The imposition of sanctions against successful civilian enterprises of Belarus is an epitome of the hypocrisy of the U.S. administration whose representatives use every opportunity to declare their “support” for the Belarusian people. We don't think that thousands of ordinary workers of our flagship factories dreamed of such foreign assistance and support in the form of absolutely illegal and groundless sanctions,” the foreign ministry noted in a statement.

“This said, we have no doubts that the teams of MAZ and BelAZ who have already gained significant experience in working under sanctions, will successfully handle any new challenges. As real life shows, any attempts to economically isolate and strangle our country are doomed to fail,” the press service of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs emphasized.

“The Republic of Belarus was, is and will be a sovereign state pursuing an independent foreign policy. And no sanctions, restrictions or threats will make us deviate from our path and act contrary to our national interests,” the foreign ministry said.
