Union State MPs to study Baranovichi's experience in building ties with Russian regions

MOSCOW, 25 February (BelTA) – Members of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State are set to visit Belarus' Baranovichi on 25-26 February to study the city's experience in developing cooperation with Russian regions, BelTA learned from the PA press service.

“The Union State MPs are expected to meet with the Baranovichi mayor and heads of the city's enterprises. The MPs will get familiar with the operation of the 558th Aviation Repair Plant, Baranovichi Cotton Production Amalgamation and Baranovichi Machine-Tool Plant,” the press service noted

On 26 February, the Baranovichi City Hall will host a meeting of the Parliamentary Assembly Commission on Budget and Finance. “The participants will discuss Baranovichi's best practices in developing cooperation with Russian regions and prospects to boost it further,” the press service said.

MPs will also be updated on the preliminary results of the 2018 Union State budget performance, reports on the completion of Union State programs, progress made in the 2019 Union State budget performance, and the development of new programs, projects and activities. “MPs will discuss the feasibility of developing model laws for Belarus and Russia, regulating the activities on the Union State budget performance, and also proposals to improve the budget process in the Union State alongside the implementation of priority areas and overriding tasks to further develop the Union State in 2018-2022 years,” the press service said.

Apart from the Union State MPs, taking part in the meeting will be representatives of the Union State Standing Committee, supervisory bodies of Belarus and Russia, the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade, the Belarusian Industry Ministry, the Baranovichi City Hall and directors of companies.
