Speaker: History of Great Patriotic War should not be rewritten

MINSK, 16 April (BelTA) - Everything must be done to ensure that the history of the Great Patriotic War should not be rewritten, Chairman of the House of Representatives Vladimir Andreichenko said at the session of the lower house of the Belarusian parliament on 16 April, BelTA has learned.

The speaker noted that the Great Victory is not only a historical date and a reminder of the price paid by the Belarusian people for peace. “Victory Day serves as a warning against the emergence of a new world war, which may be the last for humanity. We must do everything possible to ensure that history should not bet rewritten, that future generations should preserve peace as the highest value on the earth,” he stressed.

Vladimir Andreichenko added that Victory Day is the most heartwarming most joyful and at the same time mournful holiday. Belarusians honor the memory of the victims of fascism, pay tribute to the courage of the people who gave everything to achieve the Great Victory, the speaker said.

As it has been reported, the House of Representatives reviewed the statement of the National Assembly on the 75th anniversary of the Great Victory on 16 April.
