South Korea welcomes Belarus' support for peaceful initiatives on Korean Peninsula

MINSK, 19 June (BelTA) – The Republic of Korea welcomes Belarus' support for peaceful initiatives on the Korean Peninsula, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

This matter was in focus of the meeting between Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Belarus to the Republic of Korea Andrei Popkov and the Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Moon Hee-sang. During the meeting, the parties discussed inter-parliamentary contacts, including exchange of best practices in law-making, as well as cooperation within multilateral platforms. The speaker positively assessed Belarus' stance on peace and security efforts in international relations, observance and strengthening of the nuclear non-proliferation regime, as well as Belarus' support for the peaceful initiatives on the Korean Peninsula.

The parties also discussed ways to intensify cooperation in innovation, digital economy, high technologies, to build contacts between small and medium-sized businesses of the two countries, as well as to ease mutual travels between Belarus and the Republic of Korea.
