Shoigu: Belarus remains a staunch ally, reliable partner of Russia

MINSK, 25 May (BelTA) - Belarus has been and remains a staunch ally and reliable partner of Russia, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said as he met with Belarusian Defense Minister Viktor Khrenin on 25 May, BelTA has learned.

"Our meetings have recently become regular. It is especially important in conditions of rapidly rising tensions and unprecedented increase in international confrontation. Belarus has been and remains our staunch ally and a reliable partner,” Sergei Shoigu said.

According to the Russian defense minister, Belarus and Russia are confronting the collective West, which is waging against the two countries an undeclared war: “NATO's military activities have become as aggressive as possible. A set of measures to increase the combat readiness of the united armed forces of the alliance in Eastern Europe is underway. Additional military contingents are being deployed and training, combat and reconnaissance activities are being conducted near the borders of the Union State.
