SCO hailed as platform for building multipolar world

BISHKEK, 14 June (BelTA) – The Shanghai Cooperation Organization can become a platform for building a multipolar world. Kyrgyzstan President Sooronbay Jeenbekov made the relevant statement during the session of the SCO Heads of State Council in Bishkek on 14 June, BelTA has learned.

The Kyrgyzstan president noted that when the SCO heads of state had met behind closed doors earlier that day, they had exchanged opinions about topical matters concerning the organization's operation and the international agenda. “In conditions of the changing international situation the Shanghai Cooperation Organization demonstrates a new format of international interaction to the world community. The organization's openness makes it attractive,” he said.

Sooronbay Jeenbekov also talked about what had happened in the course of Kyrgyzstan's presidency in the SCO. He talked about all the areas of work of the organization and put forward a number of proposals.

The Kyrgyzstan president drew attention to regional security, further advancement of international cooperation, tight cooperation in fighting economic crimes, ensuring information security, promoting digitization and interaction in logistics.

Sooronbay Jeenbekov drew attention to the importance of stepping up banking and business cooperation, including in transition to payments in national currencies, the encouragement of business contacts, the creation of regional manufacturing chains, and cooperation in agribusiness. “Green economy is a high-priority avenue in our joint work,” the president said.

Cooperation in the area of cultural and humanitarian ties and tourism represents a separate block in the Shanghai Cooperation Organization.
