MINSK, 1 June (BelTA) – NATO coordinates sabotage attacks of Ukrainian special services against Russia and Belarus. Director of the Federal Security Service (FSB) of Russia Alexander Bortnikov mentioned it as Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko met with participants of the 52nd session of the CIS Council of Heads of Security Agencies and Special Services in Minsk on 1 June, BelTA has learned.
According to the FSB director, Ukraine has become a staging point for a war against Russia and for subversive work against Belarus. The West actively encourages Moldova to get involved in the Ukrainian conflict by cleansing Transdniestria and Gagauzia. Military exercises and combat shakedown of NATO forces as well as Ukrainian and Moldovan special services regularly take place near the border of the Union State of Belarus and Russia.
Alexander Bortnikov noted: “NATO coordinates sabotage and terrorist activities of armed units and special services of the Kiev regime. It inflates ranks of the Ukrainian army with foreign mercenaries and militants of international terrorist organizations. NATO provides reconnaissance and technical support for combat forays of Ukrainian infiltrators and agents against military and civilian installations as well as critical infrastructure in Russia and Belarus.”
The FSB director also drew attention to continued attempts to attack installations of the nuclear energy industry and the fuel and energy complex. In his words, it is a serious threat.
“At the same time the United States of America and the UK are working hard to disunite countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States. The intelligence community and diplomatic missions work with political and economic elites of the CIS states. It is the situation today. It is truly coming to be. All of us see it. Under the threat of secondary sanctions or with promises of preferences they try to drive a wedge between our countries, enforce advantageous formats of cooperation in defense and security upon players outside the region,” the head of the Russian special service said.
To prove his point, he mentioned more frequent visits of top officials of defense and security agencies of the NATO bloc to the CIS states. “Americans and the English are working hard to ‘cajole' the political leadership [of the CIS states] and try to influence the situation in our ranks,” he clarified.
In his words, American and British intelligence services with assistance of mass media and the non-profit organizations they control have launched a massive campaign to prepare conditions for a violent overthrow of governments in the CIS states. “We see it and take measures to neutralize these threats,” the FSB director said.
