MINSK, 8 June (BelTA) - The Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) will continue strengthening ties with friendly countries, including the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said at a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in Sochi on 8 June, BelTA has learned.

“Our integration association [EAEU] is open to all who share our values. We will continue strengthening ties with friendly states and integration organizations. First of all, these are the CIS, SCO and ASEAN. Last year we took decision to start negotiations on the development of the free trade zone with United Arab Emirates and Indonesia. We also made significant progress in the dialogue with Egypt and Iran,” Mikhail Mishustin said.

According to him, the EAEU stands for mutually beneficial and equal cooperation and does not impose its rules of the game on anyone. “This approach, together with the favorable geographical location of the union as a logistical and economic center of the Greater Eurasian Partnership, provides enormous potential for expanding trade and economic relations,” the Russian prime minister said.
