Russian expert: West's pressure does not affect EAEU development

MINSK, 13 December (BelTA) - Pressure from Western countries does not affect the development of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU). Moreover, all regions of the world show interest in the integration association, Director General of the Center for Study of Integration Prospects (Russia) Sergey Rekeda said in an interview to Belarus 1 TV channel as he commented on the results of the Supreme Eurasian Economic Council meeting held on 10 December, BelTA has learned.

The expert community is convinced that only in unity it is possible to defend the interests of the EAEU and ensure the growth of the member countries' economies.

“In terms of freedom of movement of goods and workforce, we are making progress, and it is yielding economic results. There is a good effect in relations with third countries. I mean the conclusion of an agreement on a free trade zone, negotiations with new countries on economic cooperation with the EAEU. A lot of attention was paid to these issues at the recent summit,” said Sergey Rekeda.

According to him, the EAEU is recognized in all regions of the world, “from Latin America to Africa and East Asia. That is why the EAEU is successfully and intensively developing its foreign economic track, and the pressure from the Western countries does not interfere with it at all.”
