Russian ambassador once again under fire from Belarusian Foreign Ministry

MINSK, 22 April (BelTA) – The Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs commented on the statement made by Russian Ambassador Mikhail Babich after the State of the Nation Address by Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko. The text of the response from Anatoly Glaz, Head of the Information and Digital Diplomacy Office at the Belarusian MFA to a reporter's question has been posted on the ministry's website, BelTA has learned.

“I can only direct you to our previous comment about his emotional statements made in March. Everything we said earlier finds confirmation. Mr. ambassador sees absolutely no difference between a Russian federal district, where, we are told, he liked to lecture everybody, and an independent state. In his address the Belarusian president was absolutely loud and clear about the independence of our state and about skeptical, to put it mildly, attitude to our centuries-long history on the part of individual foreign politicians,” Anatoly Glaz said.

“Do you know what matters in this situation? For quite a long time various external powers have unsuccessfully attempted to destroy close friendly relations between the two sister nations. What these external powers failed to do over the past several decades has been successfully achieved by Mr Babich within literally a couple of months,” the official representative of the Belarusian Ministry of Foreign Affairs said.
