MINSK, 18 May (BelTA) – Until Washington makes the decision, neither Volodymyr Zelenskyy nor Ukraine will begin negotiations. Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Vyacheslav Volodin made the statement when asked about the possibility of Russia-Ukraine peace talks, BelTA has learned.
Vyacheslav Volodin said: “I have my own point of view in this case. Until Washington makes the decision, neither Zelenskyy nor Ukraine will begin negotiations. Ukraine does not exist as a state. At present this territory is a proving ground for the weapons all the NATO countries are supplying. The Ukrainian government is absolutely a pocket one. Everything is controlled by advisors from Washington and from Brussels. If we talk about Zelenskyy, he is just a TV host. And he speaks the text someone else writes.”
Vyacheslav Volodin went on saying: “There are no legitimate government bodies over there [in Ukraine]. They stopped representing the people a long time ago. They seized control as a result of a coup d'etat. Washington is in charge over there. It is Washington that will determine how long the war will last and how many Ukrainians will be killed. Ukraine residents are expendables for Washington.”
Vyacheslav Volodin said that the West led by the United States of America is trying to make the unipolar world system last. “We are in favor of a multipolar fair world. Where every country should have a future. A nation has to have prospects. And when Washington decides whether a country can exist or not… You and I saw it in Yugoslavia, Iraq, Libya. Virtually the same could have happened in Syria. It happened in Afghanistan,” the MP remarked.
The head of the lower chamber of the Russian parliament pointed out that today's situation affects Europe the most: “Europe loses while America gains. Inflation in Europe varies from 16% to 27%. Businesses are leaving Germany for the USA. Americans blew up the Nord Stream. An attack against whom? Against Germany, Netherlands, France. Cheap energy resources allowed Germany to make competitive products. Germany is the most powerful economy in Europe. But it stands to lose the most. Exactly because it no longer has these preferences. Who got them? The USA. Because their shale gas is many times more expensive than the gas Russia used to supply. But American enterprises get this gas at a price that is four times cheaper. It means the U.S. economy will grow while the German economy will fall and will stagnate. And all of it will damage the European economy.”
