MOSCOW, 17 March (BelTA) – Belarusian diplomats expect the Russian Federation Ministry of Foreign Affairs to explain how Belarusians can return home in transit via Moscow, BelTA learned from Aleksandr Suvorov, Head of the Consular Office of the Embassy of Belarus in Russia.
The Russian Federation government has issued a resolution to ban foreigners from entering the country as of 00:00 on 18 March. The ban will apply to Belarusian citizens, too, however, it says the Russian side will not prevent the transit of foreign citizens travelling by air via its territory. However, it is yet unknown how exactly it will be done. “We look forward to receiving official information from the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs till the end of the day. The ministry is reconciling it with the Russian border service,” Aleksandr Suvorov said.
