Rumas, Medvedev meet in Minsk

MINSK, 21 June (BelTA) – Belarus Prime Minister Sergei Rumas and Russia Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev are holding a meeting in Minsk, BelTA has learned.

The prime ministers are set to speak one-on-one before sitting down for broader talks involving members of the delegations.

The press service of the Belarusian government informed BelTA that the parties are set to discuss various aspects of Belarus-Russia cooperation, including trade and economic issues, the integration process.

In January-April 2019, Belarus trade with Russia amounted to $11.2 billion, which was down by 1.7% over the same period last year. Export to Russia was at $4.14 billion (down by 0.6%) and import was at $7.03 billion (down 2.3%). Russia remains Belarus' main trading partner. In January-April, it accounted for 49.2% of the total trade, 39.8% of export, and 57.1% of import. In Q1, Russian investment came at $1.2 billion or 40.9% of the total worth of foreign investment to Belarus ($2.97 billion) within this period.
