Putin meets with heads of government of EAEU, CIS countries

MINSK, 9 June (BelTA) – Russian President Vladimir Putin met with the heads of government of the EAEU and the CIS member states in Sochi, including Prime Minister of Belarus Roman Golovchenko, BelTA has learned.

These days Sochi is hosting a number of important events, including the sessions of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council and the CIS Heads of Government Council, the Eurasian Congress, and the “Eurasia is our home” exhibition. The talks between Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko and Russian President Vladimir Putin aroused much interest. The Russian leader also met with the heads of government of the EAEU and the CIS member states.

“The governments of our states are facing really big, complex tasks to promote integration in the economic, social and humanitarian spheres. Our primary task is to expand trade contacts and increase the involvement of our economies and economic entities in the Eurasian production, transport and logistics chains, to implement investment and infrastructure projects,” the Russian leader's press service quoted him as saying.

The president of the Russian Federation believes that it is necessary to step up cooperation in industry and to create new joint ventures. In his opinion, it is vital to strengthen technological sovereignty in key sectors of the economy, to achieve true technological self-sufficiency, and to ensure digital independence.
