Priorities of Belarus' CSTO chairmanship discussed in Moscow

MOSCOW, 24 January (BelTA) - Secretary General of the Collective Security Treaty Organization Imangali Tasmagambetov and Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev met in Moscow on 24 January to discuss the status of implementation of the priorities of Belarus' chairmanship in the organization, CSTO spokesman Vladimir Zainetdinov told BelTA.

"The parties discussed a number of international issues, exchanged views on the situation along the borders of the CSTO. Emphasis was placed on increasing the authority of the CSTO and promoting its cooperation with other international organizations. The parties also discussed the procedure for implementing the priorities proposed by the Republic of Belarus, the CSTO chairmanship in 2023," the spokesman said.

The parties focused on the progress in the implementation of the decisions adopted by the heads of the CSTO member states in 2022. "In particular, the parties talked about the CSTO Coordinating Council of on Biological Safety," Vladimir Zainetdinov said.

"Nikolai Patrushev congratulated Imangali Tasmagambetov on the appointment to the post, wished every success in his work for the benefit of the Collective Security Treaty Organization, and also expressed readiness to assist in the implementation of the tasks facing the CSTO Secretariat," the spokesman added.
