MOSCOW, 26 April (BelTA) – A session of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council will take place in the Russian city of Kazan on 29-30 April, BelTA learned from a Facebook post by Iya Malkina, Aide to the Chairman of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission.
According to the source, the heads of government of the Eurasian Economic Union's observer states – Cuba, Moldova, and Uzbekistan – have been traditionally invited to attend the session.
Participants of the session are expected to discuss results of a pilot project in the area of digital foreign trade and the possibility of reducing the limit, which defines how much merchandise individuals can import for personal use without paying an import duty. The unification of measures designed to regulate the export of certain sensitive kinds of merchandise will be discussed as well as measures to protect the Eurasian Economic Union market of agricultural products from dangerous plant viruses. Prospects of cooperation of the Eurasian Economic Union member states in the sphere of space services will be discussed.
Canceling the decision of the Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission, which requires Belarus to observe the EAEU's domestic market rules, will be on the agenda. That decision recognizes the requirement for a mandatory choice of Belarusian goods in retail stores as a trade barrier, Iya Malkina said.
