Patrushev: Belarus remains Russia's closest ally and strategic partner

MINSK, 7 June (BelTA) - Belarus has always been Russia's closest ally and strategic partner, Secretary of the Russian Security Council Nikolai Patrushev said, BelTA has learned.

State Secretary of the Belarusian Security Council Aleksandr Volfovich and Secretary of Russia's Security Council Nikolai Patrushev met in Minsk on 7 June as part of the annual consultations between the Security Councils of Belarus and Russia.

"I am glad to have another opportunity to meet with you and visit the hospitable Belarusian land," Nikolai Patrushev said as he addressed his Belarusian counterpart. "We have a rich program, which includes bilateral consultations and a meeting of the Committee of Secretaries of the CSTO Security Council."

As Nikolai Patrushev noted, these meeting are extremely important, especially in the context of the emerging multipolar world, with Russia and China being the poles of it. "Belarus has always been our closest ally and strategic partner. We are strengthening our common defense capabilities, jointly resisting external sanctions pressure and attempts to interfere in our internal affairs," Nikolai Patrushev said.

He also stressed that the United States is waging an undeclared war against Belarus and Russia in order to destroy the national identity and peoples of the two countries.
