Pakistan PM's visit to Belarus postponed to 2020

MINSK, 24 December (BelTA) – Belarus and Pakistan are working on the cooperation road map for 2020-2022. The parties are planning to initial the document at a meeting of the joint commission for trade and economic cooperation in March 2020 and sign the document during a visit of Pakistan's Prime Minister Imran Khan to Belarus, BelTA learned from the Belarusian embassy in Islamabad.

According to the diplomatic mission, Belarus and Pakistan are gearing up for the sixth meeting of the joint Belarus-Pakistan commission for trade and economic cooperation. These matters were discussed by Belarus' Ambassador Andrei Yermolovich and Federal Minister for Economic Affairs of the Government of Pakistan Muhammad Hammad Azhar.

“In order to fill the event with practical content and the agreements leading to specific projects in industry, agriculture, textiles, pharmaceuticals and other industries, the parties agreed to convene interagency working groups handling cooperation in these industries prior to the commission's meeting,” the embassy said.

The parties touched on the status of the draft road map of Belarusian-Pakistan cooperation for 2020-2022. This document covers the main promising areas of bilateral cooperation. Proposals have been made to initial the document at the meeting of the joint commission for trade and economic cooperation in Minsk in March and sign during Imran Khan's visit to Belarus.

The diplomatic mission specified that the visit of the Pakistan prime minister has been scheduled for the first half of next year. The parties are still discussing the date of the visit. Earlier it was reported that Imran Khan would visit Belarus before the end of this year.
