OSCE coordinator meets with POWs in Ukraine's Donbass area

MINSK, 19 September (BelTA) – Ambassador Toni Frisch, coordinator of the subgroup on economic affairs of the trilateral contact group on Ukraine in Minsk, has met with people, who are being held captive due to the ongoing conflict in the Donbass area, Ukraine, BelTA learned from the OSCE's special representative in the trilateral contact group on Ukraine Martin Sajdik on 19 September.

Toni Frisch talked about his trip to the conflict zone on both sides of the contact line. The coordinator visited 11 POW camps in Kharkov, Starobelsk, Donetsk, Lugansk, and Bakhmut. He met with 36 captives there, including five people, who are held captive due to reasons unrelated to the conflict.

Martin Sajdik reminded that it has been four years since the Minsk memorandum was signed. The memorandum is the second document of the Minsk agreements, which lie at the heart of the work of the trilateral contact group on Ukraine in Minsk.

The trilateral contact group on Ukraine will reconvene on 2 October.
