Opinion: Work of American and European special services is visible in Belarus

MINSK, 26 August (BelTA) - The work of American and European special services is visible in Belarus, Sergei Glazyev, a member of the Board (Minister) for Integration and Macroeconomics of the Eurasian Economic Commission, said in an interview with the Belarus 1 TV channel on 25 August, BelTA has learned.

“It is clear that young people and people who want change are being used by those who are planning to stage a coup d'etat and to steer the society and the economy towards the path that Ukraine has been going for the past six years with disastrous consequences. In fact, the people we saw on the Maidan have taken Belarusian opposition leaders under their wing. For example, recently we have seen the photos of Svetlana Tikhanovskaya with Bernard-Henri Levy, a key player in coups and civil wars in the post-Soviet space and the Middle East, a man who prides himself on making money on revolutions and overthrow of legitimate governments,” Sergei Glazyev said.

It is necessary to understand that the Belarusian society is being pushed into the abyss today, he said. The work of American and European special services, and also the politicians interested in destabilizing the situation and creating chaos is obvious. “Here they are planning to solve several problems at once. First, to overthrow the legitimate government and to install Western puppets who will open the country up to European and American corporations. Secondly, to use Belarus jointly with Ukraine to build a cordon against Russia,” Sergei Glazyev said.

Sergei Glazyev believes that this cannot happen in Minsk. “Lukashenko stands firmly up for the people, for the country. No Western partners can command him what to do. He knows full well that their promises don't mean very much. They always deceive and use gullible people to their advantage,” he added.
