Opinion: Society consolidation is the best response to riots

MINSK, 5 June (BelTA) - The best way to respond to riots is to consolidate the society, Chairman of the Standing Committee on International Affairs of the House of Representatives Andrei Savinykh said in an interview with the ONT TV channel on 4 June, BelTA has learned

“The laws of the human mind, the laws of the crowd are the same all over the world. If this is successfully used in the United States of America, then it can be repeated anywhere. The experience of ‘color revolutions' which were organized, to a large extent, by the American foundations proves it very well. Of course, we need to learn from this, but we have to act smartly. I think the best way to respond is to consolidate the society, to develop our own values, to foster accord in the society with regards to what we live for, how we live, what is allowed in our society and what is not,” Andrei Savinykh said.

Violations of the law must be stopped firmly and decisively, and everyone should know it. “Otherwise we will be looking at a quite negative scenario," he said.

The MP also spoke about the response to various opinions on social networks, including when someone becomes the object of bullying. “The political culture of society as well as the culture of human relations, undoubtedly, requires a certain tolerance. This also includes tolerance to views that are at odds with your own,” he believes. People react sharply mainly in social networks, not face-to-face. According to Andrei Savinykh, this is rather indicative of a low political culture. Those who react harshly usually have a lot of issues of their own, he added.
