MINSK, 30 December (BelTA) – In a new episode of the V Teme [On Point] project on BelTA's YouTube channel Russian military observer, retired colonel Viktor Baranets spoke about possible consequences of the landing of the S-300 missile in Belarus and suspected that this could be a deliberate act on the part of Ukraine.
“It is fundamentally important for me that this missile fell on the territory of Belarus. It's good that it landed in an open field, that no people were injured. This missile could have dropped right in the center of Ivanovo District, could have hit Brest, a Belarusian ammunition depot, it could have hit a kindergarten, a hospital, and so on. And how would Belarus have responded in this case?” Viktor Baranets said.
The expert added: “It had every right to raze this regiment to the ground. As far as I know, Belarus has the means to do this, but in this case this would have meant a Belarus-Ukraine war. One cannot but suspect that this ‘mistake' was made on purpose, under cover that this Ukrainian anti-aircraft missile regiment repelled the attack of Russian missiles. I do not rule out this version either. We still need to keep it in mind. It's easy to say that it was a mistake and they are sorry.”
