MINSK, 4 December (BelTA) – The elected MPs will need to make use of the experience of the previous parliament for further economic development and consolidation of society. Fresh ideas are expected from the parliament, MP of the House of Representatives of the previous convocation Lyudmila Dobrynina told BelTA.

Lyudmila Dobrynina shared her expectations from the upcoming meeting of President Aleksandr Lukashenko with MPs. According to her, the meeting will focus on the tasks related to improving the efficiency of the economy in general and public sector enterprises in particular, as well as people's living standards, including the increase of wages and retirement benefits. In her words, the current five-year period is ending in 2020, and it is necessary to decide on the country's social and economic development program for 2021-2025. “The newly-elected MPs will have to speak up, voice new proposals and ideas aimed at the consolidation of society and economic development. Parliament is a platform where concrete solutions should be worked out and people's concerns should be discussed. It is crucial to address issues,” said Lyudmila Dobrynina.

According to her, the activity of the parliament of the previous convocation will be assessed during the meeting. She said that the outgoing MPs were engaged in improving the tax legislation and social policy. "The continuity in their work will be guaranteed with the focus on the interests of the state and the welfare of the people,” said Lyudmila Dobrynina.

The new parliament will have to make greater use of international platforms to promote the interests of the country. “It is necessary to be more courageous in making yourselves heard, pay attention to the problems in the integration structures, develop the European and other vectors of cooperation, strengthen the positive image of the country,” she said.
