New MPs expected to work harder to promote Belarus' interests in international scene

MINSK, 20 November (BelTA) – New members of the Belarusian parliament will have to put more efforts into promoting Belarus' interests in the international scene, BelTA learned from President of the Liberal Democratic Party of Belarus Oleg Gaidukevich.

Oleg Gaidukevich has been elected member of the seventh-convocation House of Representatives of the National Assembly of Belarus. The politician is convinced that the parliament will more rigorously and persistently defend the country's interests on international platforms. “It seems to me the parliament should be more active in this regard,” he said.

Speaking about the composition of the new parliament, Oleg Gaidukevich noted there are many charismatic and prominent people, who are accomplished professionals. “This parliament will be active and interesting. It will be able to work in complicated circumstances. There were attempts to interfere with the progress of the elections and put pressure on members of election commissions during the election campaign. Meanwhile, it is the parliament's job to ensure stability in the society,” the politician stressed.

Oleg Gaidukevich reminded that the possibility of amending the Constitution is under consideration in Belarus. It is a very responsible and important task the parliament will have to contribute to. Oleg Gaidukevich added that on the whole it is the parliament's job to work every day for the benefit of the country and the society. The work can succeed if all MPs interact productively with each other and with the executive power. “We should work together in order to make life in the country better,” he summed up.
