MPs of Belarus, Russia to speak with one voice in international organizations

MOSCOW, 28 February (BelTA) - Belarusian and Russian MPs will speak with one voice on current issues in international parliamentary organizations . This decision was taken at a meeting of the commission on foreign policy of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Belarus-Russia Union State which was held in Minsk on 28 February, BelTA learned from the press service of the Parliamentary Assembly.

The MPs reviewed the progress in the implementation of the program of concerted action in foreign policy of the states parties to the Union State Treaty for 2018-2019. The MPs emphasized the important role of the program in promoting the Russian-Belarusian alliance. In order to strengthen the positions of the Union State on the international arena, the MPs will harmonize the positions of the parliamentary delegations of Belarus and Russia on the current issues on the international agenda in the international parliamentary organizations,” the press service said.

The meeting also considered the preparations for the participation in the 140th Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union and the 35th session of the Assembly of the Latin American Parliament. “The MPs proposed to discuss, jointly with the CSTO Parliamentary Assembly, the role of parliamentary diplomacy in resolving pressing issues on the international agenda at the parliamentary hearings. Members of the commission will ask the PA Council to hold the parliamentary hearings in St. Petersburg in June 2019,” the press service added.
