MINSK, 8 May (BelTA) - The holding of the presidential election on 9 August is in line with the logic of the electoral process and the developments in the world, Chairman of the Standing Commission on International Affairs of the House of Representatives Andrei Savinykh said in the parliament, BelTA has learned.
The MP supported the date of the election on 9 August. “It is optimal, fully meets the logic of the electoral process and the logic of the development of events,” he believes.
Andrei Savinykh noted that the consequences of quarantine measures and crisis phenomena in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic are beginning to show in the world. The global economy, according to the MP, risks facing a serious recession, unprecedented in scale and severity. “This will be a serious challenge and a serious test for all countries. The crisis is expected to aggravate in the autumn. In this context, it is extremely important for us to complete the internal political processes in the country as soon as possible,” Andrei Savinykh noted.
