Moldova president arrives in Belarus

MINSK, 20 June (BelTA) - Moldova President Igor Dodon has arrived in Belarus. He will be among other VIP guests attending the opening ceremony of the 2nd European Games, BelTA has learned.

The agenda of the visit also includes bilateral meetings.

Igor Dodon came to Belarus on working visits in 2017 and in April 2019. The legal framework of bilateral cooperation includes around 70 agreements.

In 2018, the trade with Moldova amounted to $222.3 million (up by 0.9% over 2017), with export at $147.4 million and import at $74.9 million. Major Belarusian exports in 2018 included oil products, petroleum coke and bitumen, timber products, tractors and tractor units, fiberglass, cars, ceramic tiles, tires, and drugs. Moldova supplied Belarus with grape wines, liquors, fruit and vegetables.

Over 60 offices, subsidiary companies, distribution network entities, and retailers of Belarusian companies operate in Moldova. Belarus has also set up three assembly plants in Moldova. A total of 25 companies with Moldovan investment work in Belarus, including 12 joint companies and 13 foreign organizations.

Team Moldova at the 2nd European Games in Minsk includes 50 athletes and 44 coaches.
