MOSCOW, 17 May (BelTA) – Minsk and Moscow have closed ranks to oppose attempts to interfere in their internal affairs, reads the joint statement adopted by Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Belarus Sergei Aleinik and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov following their Moscow talks. The statement outlines foreign policy priorities of Belarus and Russia, BelTA has learned.

“Minsk and Moscow are working together to eliminate external threats to our common security that are coming from unfriendly states; we are resisting political and illegal sanctions, as well as attempts to interfere in the internal affairs of our countries,” the document emphasizes.

The foreign ministers of Belarus and Russia reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining relations of special alliance and confirmed their shared approaches to the international and regional agenda.

“Our countries are working to build the Union State that will be a common space for economy, energy, finance, defense and security, migration, humanitarian cooperation, equal rights and freedoms of citizens. The foreign ministries of Belarus and Russia provide foreign policy support for the Union State integration,” the statement reads.
