MFA: Belarus concerned over escalating tensions on Azerbaijani-Armenian border

MINSK, 14 July (BelTA) – It is with deep concern that the Republic of Belarus notes the continuing escalation of the situation on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border, reads the statement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Belarus, BelTA reports.

“All conflicts should be resolved by exclusively peaceful means, through negotiations and other internationally recognized instruments," the statement reads. “The use of force will only make the situation worse. We call on the parties to adhere to the ceasefire and to avoid any steps that may lead to increased tensions and casualties.”

“Belarus hopes that Baku and Yerevan will restore direct dialogue, show wisdom and prudence inherent in both peoples, realizing the responsibility for stability in the entire region. We also expect that all countries friendly to Azerbaijan and Armenia will use their authority to de-escalate the situation, including within the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group,” the ministry said.
