Mezentsev: West seeks to disintegrate Belarus-Russia Union State

MINSK, 10 December (BelTA) – The West is determined to disintegrate the Belarus-Russia Union State and subjugate it, State Secretary of the Belarus-Russia Union State Dmitry Mezentsev told the ONT TV channel, BelTA informs.

“The task is to disintegrate, to muzzle, to make it obey Strasbourg, Brussels, Washington. Everything is used for that, including information war, sanctions,” Dmitry Mezentsev noted.

He said that Western countries forgot the outcomes of negotiations with the Soviet Union that made many concessions in the military and other spheres for the sake of maintaining peace and stability on the continent and preventing a nuclear war. “The Soviet Union responded to the call and made these steps voluntarily after assessing the threat facing humanity. It did it so that millions of people could live peacefully. We wanted to be equal partners, to be heard, respected and, most importantly, appreciated for what almost 30 million of our people sacrificed their lives: they died so that the post-war world would be safe. We retreated, voluntarily met the West halfway. What lessons did they learn from it? To pressure us even harder,” the state secretary said.

“We did the same in 1993 as we signed the nuclear arms control agreement. Back then we were given guarantees. You can see for yourself now what happened of it,” the host of the program, head of the ONT TV channel Marat Markov added.
