MINSK, 31 January (BelTA) – The CIS International Economic Forum will be held in Moscow on 17 March, CIS Secretary General Sergei Lebedev told reporters, BelTA has learned.
“Despite the difficult situation in the world and in the CIS space, we have big plans. We very much hope that these plans will be implemented under the chairmanship of Kyrgyzstan,” Sergei Lebedev said. “The CIS Executive Committee is grateful to the leadership of Kyrgyzstan for the early presentation of the concept. We began to work on the concept with the leadership of Kyrgyzstan, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and other structures since October last year when it was decided to transfer the CIS chairmanship to Kyrgyzstan. The CIS Executive Committee immediately joined this work and the concept was ready by the end of last year. We are grateful to First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Asein Isaev for coming to Minsk to personally present this concept,” Sergei Lebedev said.
The concept provides for a number of events under the auspices of Kyrgyzstan in the territory of the republic and abroad, the CIS secretary general noted. “The meeting of the CIS Economic Council in Moscow will be the first important forum. It will be held on 17 March simultaneously with the traditional economic forum of the CIS. We hope that there will be representatives from all the countries of the Commonwealth. In addition, we have invited representatives of member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, BRICS and our partners in the Eurasian Economic Union,” he said.
The meeting of the Council of Permanent Plenipotentiary Representatives of the CIS Member Nations at the Statutory and other Bodies of the Commonwealth is taking place at the CIS Executive Committee in Minsk on 31 January.
